GMT project - What would you do?
-
I recently acquired this buckskin Cherry Drop as a potential first GMT project. I added a copy of pearl from the roving gene sales, but I'm not sure where to go from here. My goal is to breed mainly fun livers & chocolate palominos (& if there's interest I'd sell straws from him). What genes would you add (the cheaper the better)?
EDIT: Alternatively, is there any other RS that would be better to GMT for my breeding goals?

If you drop the E to e and add Sty (cheapest option at 1 GMT per strand) or S+ (more expensive but shows up in the RGS and most people love S+) he will become a chocolate palomino pearl! It costs 1 GMT (20 IVS or $5) to drop the E.Dabbler in EVERYTHING.

I agree with Ceffyl. If livers and chocolate Palomino's are your goal, drop his E to e, and add a Sooty. Then, depending on your budget, you might decide a fun pattern. Unless by fun, you meant dun, and then in that case add a dun gene.

I agree, if your goal is to breed liver and chocolate then I would GMT him to chestnut and add at least one copy of sooty.
As far as other genes to add, consider what you like in foals. Do you want foals with lots of splashy white patterns? Add patterning genes. Or do you want the base color to shine through? Add more subtle genes like satin, nd1, or s+. If you want a mix, add one or two pattern genes at a low white factor.
You can also use the search function for inspiration. Look at other people's livers, chocolates, and pearls to see what catches your eye.ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)

I got a chance to play with some Cherry Drop Boys during the anniversary sales if they might give you some inspiration.
