Question about Boosting...please help?
  • I have these two fellas father and son:
    image
    DBLE2 B KP Pretty Man

    and his dad

    DBLE2 B hsfk hKP Foalswap

I am thinking of boosting the son but would it allow him to test better than his sire (PT)? If not, I will save the boost for someone else and snip/sell the son.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • I don’t think a boost will help his PT, since the boost is only for breeding ability.
  • Yeah, I've decided to snip. I'll get more better stock in the future, but it's tough being impatient and wanting nicer foals NOW! lol
    Thanks :)

  • So how does one increase a foals's PT, or does that ability even exists? (I suspect not or it would be an absolute free for all to make our beautiful babies nicer instead of snipping when they do not exceed their parents.

  • The only way to increase the PT of a foal is by making an inconsistent foal, consistent. That costs 1 GMT token. But you can’t do anything about an already consistent foal. The only way you can really try to keep your PTs high is by only using consistent mares from foundation level up, but even that can sometimes throw some lower ones.
  • Actually a consistent foal May have their PT slightly raised by making them (perfectly) Consistent. However, whether it changes their PT or not it will cost you 1 GMT so most people don’t bother to gmt their Consistent foals. I will occasionally with a colt that is otherwise what I want but has a lower than expected consistent PT.

  • He's as good as his sire, so a 5% boost would make him superior, maybe even less that 5%. Wouldn't know until you did it. His PT relates to showing not breeding, although higher quality breeding horses produce higher PT foals, his PT has nothing to do with his own breeding ability. There is always next year to breed a superior son too!
  • What i do is keep the colt i like but dont boost. I wait until he is at least 3 or 4, that gives me at least 2 or 3 seasons to try for a Superior Son of similar or better coloration. I almost always get one within a season or two.
