Pointed Show Horse Creates: Need Feedback :-)
• I started a side account DHShowHorses specifically to create pointed show horses to sell. I have been creating and selling primarily yearling filly Exceptionally Perfect, Exceptional Show Horses, Great Show Horses, Perfect Foundations, and Rank Specials when I get them. (♡PLEASE♡ SHARE THESE HERD HELPERS GALS AND GUYS!)

****I am not using this account to keep any horses and will be donating hbs generated from these sales as prize $$$ to anyone who wants to run contests! I am currently up to a bit over $800k in just over a month since I started the account (that's after using LV'S to buy a basic upgrade and an extra 30 and 60 stall barn), so hit me up you contest gurus!****

I would like to get feedback from those of you who actively look for and buy these types of pointed creates because I want to know what else you would be interested in buying. For example, any interest in Exceptional Producers? I have not been making them because they tend to have low PTs and don't seem to sell unless they are over 400 points. Should I make 2yr olds instead of yearlings since they get a jumpstart on training or would you rather have the extra month of hb income? I currently make only RH, WB, and drafts (primarily WB's and drafts because they seem to be the most popular), but is anyone hoping for cobs and ponies? Anything else you would be interested in?

It's been my experience over this trial period that people are really only buying 250+points for around 5000hbs. I occasionally list the lower pointed ones for less but as they don't quickly (or at all) it is easier and less time consuming to toss them into auction.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on this! It's been a fun because it's totally different than my primary account and it's so fun to hit a create with mega points :-)

• I like buying expros with points - feels like getting double duty out of brood mares. They may not show when they're in pasture 24/7, but their points still give daily payout. But people are pickier about their expros than their show stock, so it can take longer to clear them. That's something I noticed when I made my spin off account that raised enough money for my first barn before pointing out - Ex Shows will always sell, but Expros need to be the right age, bone, and phenotype for someone to bite. I think Expros can have a higher premium though when the fancy genes pop up - I pay much more for an expro that has dun than an ExShow that has dun because I want those genes in my herd.

Foal versus older is going to be a big individual preference thing, too. I like getting pointed foals because it's another 15 days (on average) of daily show bonus, and they'll get full training their two year old year, instead of possibly only a week of training (depending on when in the month they're created). But I'm an analyst by nature and trade, and sometimes spend a little too much time running numbers. The impact that has is probably minimal in the long run.

And I do think that the Current Lifetime Payout has been trending show pony and pointed pony values up (at least at the auction stage), so your price/point observation may change over the next couple weeks.

• I always make Great Show horses, and Exceptional Show horses as yearlings, since I alter most of them anyway. It gives them just a bit more time to rack up show points.

• I love ponies. I find it very difficult to find any with points. I've also ran in to some ExPerfect mares that were spayed. I'd rather buy the Ep's intact. Yearlings are great.

I've noticed a huge jump in prices on pointed creates. This morning I was looking to buy show horses and pretty much stuck to the 6000 or less in price. I dont mind buying yearling pony mares that have less than 200 points cuz I can also use them for breeding but they are so hard to find. If you have any just hanging out feel free to put them in a chat for me. :D

• I often buy show ponies with less points because they are cheaper - 2 ponies at 4k with 200 pts is better than 1 at 10k with 400pts, or at least that is my thinking, but then I (and Dinascar) have barn space. I often mop up some of the lower ones if I am looking :)
I prefer exceptional or great show rather than exceptional producers (but Dinascar sometimes buys them if they are the right genes).
I prefer 1 or 2 YOs

PM me if you ever fancy any of my stock. Always got good (small) bootstrap studs.
• I have found on my alt account that yearlings with good PTs sell well when I price them at a third of their current lifetime payout. Once I get below a lifetime payout of 9k, I just price them at 2750hbs. All of mine usually sell, even if it takes a week or so, but I don't mind the wait.

HTRanch will also buy draft or cob expro mares if they are the right color. I like having pointed breeding stock! I go through the sales and auctions pretty regularly.

• I prefer 2 yr olds in the beginning of the month and yearlings at the end, but i only by intact horses if they are hom sooty and have no regular bay; or if they are non sooty DP. I prefer exceptional producers for intacts.
