I have a quandary and I am looking for your input.

Right now when a horse is homozygous for frame the image generator does nothing, because it was not created to handle such an "impossible" thing. This has caused some confusion. I am trying to decide what the generator should do. Here are the three options.

1) Do nothing as it does now, and show no sign of frame.
2) Make a horse look het frame even when hom.
3) Make a horse completely or near completely white as that is what hom white horses should look like.

Keep in mind Freaky Friday horses are hom. frame and this would change how they appear.

Why not just make the horses in question created het Frame from now on instead? Change the genetics so the computer has no reason to be confused?

Really love my Liver Friday but if you need to make her white that's ok too.

You can't just change the genetics of hundreds of horses in the game that have already been bred. It would mess up whole blodlines. Besides they are intentionally hom. for frame. Some because of special events and some because they have been edited by players to be that way.

Not the ones that are already created, the ones that would be created later. If you change the Freaky Friday Rank Specials to het Frame for example then the computer would treat them like het frame?
Of course any hom frame create living right now could take up to 3 years to clear from the system and that doesn't fix what to do when people GMT them to be hom.

Sorry, I thought it would be an idea that would help. I'm not all that familar with computer programming. In that case I think 3 is a good option. A "white" horse is rare and Hom frame is impossible. The horses should look the part.

Maybe make them look fractured, more of a clean line cut than het frame looks like now? That's why I like frame, because the colors look fractured. And it may fit the Freaky Friday theme, a fractured horse.

I like how it is and would vote option one or two. I love my Freaky Fridays, but I'm not a fan of white horses and it would take all the fun out of them for me.

I like option 3, just because it is the most true to life. I also think it might help explaining why homozygous frame (and dangerous kit crosses) can be lethal.

For the sake of being realistic, I think 3 would be best, however, as a subjective individual I would very strongly prefer to make it look like het.

I would vote for leaving them how they are.
Option 2 is ok aswell.
Please don't make them all white.
The whole point of a Freaky Friday is it is an oddball anyway.

I like option 3. I don't mind a white horse, and if i didn't want a particular one to be white, i'd remove one or more frame genes.

One of the reasons why I love this game is it's realistic approach to genetics. I'd vote 3 for that. I won't like all of ym FF mares going all white, but at least their foals wont be

But we all have fantasy genes which are not real. :)
We have 9 other hom frame horses on this server - most of which were made to look like a freaky friday. These horses would die in RL so just making them white is not replicating what would happen anyway.
I still vote to leave them as is (option 1) but if we go down the route of option 3 I will be ok with it (as I will prob gmt the frames off - luckily as a bigger barn I can do that reasonably easily).

But frame is not a fantasy gene. It is very real and has a real known hom. look.

I think what Dinascar is saying is that since we have fantasy genes, that already makes part of this game "unrealistic". So, leaving frame as is, wouldn't be a huge deal since we already do have some things that aren't realistic.

But I think I am little outnumbered - that's ok, it won't stop me playing or anything. I just like Freaky Fridays with there dappled dark liver look.
I am used to following what a majority want when I don't want to - I live in the UK and voted against BrexIt! :D

I thought so. Though, I do agree, unless you absolutely must have the Hom. frame, one or two of them can be removed. But I'm not sure how you feel about it. With my budget, I can't exactly do that, but I do like a random white horse. Lovely for hiding genes so if I forget to look, surprises can happen. Lol. I have more Freaky Fridays now than I ever thought I'd have. Initially, I wish I could take one of them and make it a Tobiano maybe with appy and remove frame. I guess I know I can be saving GMTs for the next Freakly Friday release. Lol. I like seeing the darkness of the Hom. DP of freaky Fridays, but I know the white would be more realistic, and if I wanted the dark to show, I could just remove a frame or two. But as a "collector" there's not much need for that, unless I get into breeding them more. Like this lassie:

Can we see an example of a white ff next to old ff? I know probley look like a cremello.
Its a hard choice but maybe everyone seeing old ff next to all white could make it easier

I feel like the realistic option fits best with the game, but since I imagine the most common hom frames are the Freaky Fridays, I personally would hate if they suddenly became all white instead of the gorgeous black livers that they currently are....

The overwhelming majority on both servers want realism, and given that has been the long-standing trend with this game I am inclined to agree. It will be updated with the image generator update in the next week or two.

Just to clarify Ammit - does this mean all existing hom frames (so the Freaky Fridays primarily) are going to turn pure white in the next week or so?

I ask primarily because I mainly use my FFs in my liver line where I only allow dark chestnuts/livers/chocolates etc. and I may need to scrap the line if the foundation line which is built primarily on FFs is now going to turn all white instead of liver lol.

It means I am changing the image generator. The next time the image of that horse updates they will turn all white. That may take a very long time if no one opens that horses' page

@ElementalStables i don't think you would need to scrap them just because they turn white. They are still Hom DP livers (or blacks) but they are only turning white with the hom frame. They're offspring will still turn out as dark/livers because they will still only be het for frame. I wouldn't condemn a foundation that's HH is based on being "freaky" because they don't show color :) I'd hate to see a line get scraped for that reason!

I'm a bit sad but I understand your reasoning for the change. I will try to look at my Freaky Fridays (who are all passed being GMTable to non-frame) in the search pages rather than open up their individual page - to keep them going as long as possible! ;)

@ElementalStables Seconding what @AHayesHorses says. Only hom frame horses will turn white. Since hom frame is lethal (except in special circumstance, such as the Freaky Friday herd helper), all the livers and dark horses resulting from FF lines will remain dark. Even though the FFs will turn white due to their homozygous OLW status, their underlying genetics of hom Sty and hom DP won't change.

Oh I know guys, it's more that I have been purposefully breeding the line so that the entire pedigree is dark chestnut or liver so having a pure white horse all over the pedigree will seriously mess with the whole point of the line. FFs are the sire for basically the whole line lol - I doubt I have a foal in the entire line that doesn't have a FF in its pedigree somewhere.
Oh well, it is what it is.

I'm glad they will look more real life but it doesn't really bother me because I always remove at least 1 frame anyway because I have other risky genes in my line and high WF.

Do we know if this is still planned to happen? Only asking because originally I thought Ammit had said the plan was to update the image generator within a couple weeks (back in the end of May when this was posted) and I don't think it's happened yet? My freaky fridays at least are still black... Just curious if it got pushed back because of other fun projects (onyx! :D) or what. :P
