Dapples on chestnut?
-
I rolled this lady today, and was pleasantly surprised by how pretty she is. I’m just planning to speld her for my show ponies, but can anyone tell me what’s up with her dapples? I’ve seen them a lot on silvers, not so much on chestnuts. Thanks!

That’s lovely! Thank you. I’ll have to look for some S+ dapples to see the differences!

Glad I could help

I love the effect S+ gives on horses, I think it looks so stunning, I really enjoy the dramatic shading and dapples. Im a huge fan of it on buckskin but it also looks lovely on quite a few other shades. I grabbed a few quick examples of S+ shading for you so you could see it on a few different coloured horses. Other factors like DP effect how dark some of these horses are but S+ always brings out those lovely dapples. It also gives a 'lightening' sort of effect on the underside/belly/neck of the horse that contrasts with the darker dapples.

S+, regular sooty, champagne, and silver can all cause dapples. There is something nice about a nice chestnut with some dappling!Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable.

@SilverAleki thank you for those fantastic examples! Infrared is especially spectacular!
@ObsidianKitsune I agree! I don’t breed for chestnut, but I was so pleasantly surprised at how lovely she turned out!Thanked by 1SilverAleki
