Closed Genes and auction help

In the past I have been able to auction off intact closed genes but today I encountered this message when trying to enter one of my watercolor foals into auction.
"4061102 hmwtc sooty G4 $ can not be entered in the auction because it is already in an auction or has a closed limited edition gene!"

It is not in the auction, so I am assuming we can't auction closed genes anymore?
