    Just bred this guy today and not only did he pass all testing, but he also scored higher than his sire! Best of all, he's got a lil' frowny face on his blanket (if you tilt your head slightly to the left)! My season is going pretty well too. After my cull, only 3 horses have been spelded! I've kinda been caught in the colt curse, wish I had some mares. But hey, we love a pretty boy!

    Random side note, his Sire's notes say that all his foals will be Het DP? I don't see it. Can you see DP? I'm not even sure if het DP is a visible trait :))

    DP stands for dense pheomelanin. It darkens red pigments. Because your horse is black based (E? aa) dp will not show up on it. It isn't able to be gene tested so you have to develop an eye for it on bays, and with chestnut/palominos (ee ??) it will say either liver or chocolate if there are 3 darkening genes (DP + sooty) or more.

    The reason why the sires notes say that all foals will be het dp is because the sire is hom for it. That means that the only thing he will pass down is dp. He doesn't have a "not dp" gene for his foals to inherit. All of his foals will also be het kp, snowflake, pearl, kitm, S+, as well as get a copy of e, a, nd2, g, F, and p. All of the rest is basically a coin flip
