Opening links in the forum?
  • [EDIT: Explained Below]
The issue seems to occur on my browser (Chrome) with links that are formatted with http:// as opposed to https:// . A manual solution is simply to enter the additional s in the URL bar and reload the page, which has consistently succeeded at fixing the problem in my case.

    [Original Problem]
Not sure if this is a bug or not. I use Chrome and every time I click a link on the forum here (herd helper share, someone's search/sale/auction link) the link opens to a page looking like this:

    image

This is NOT the case with linked images, such as those in the code for sharing a horse. Clicking on linked horse images to see their pages works fine.

I never have this problem on the other server, and I was just curious if it's something with my browser, or some weird settings or what.

  • Have you cleared your cache and cookies? When the update for the background first came out I had a similar problem, and I just needed to clear everything out and it fixed it for me.
  • Hm, thank you for the tip :) I just tried and it still seems to be giving me some issues.

Also cracked open Safari and tried there, still no success.

  • This happened to someone once before, but I can't remember what it was about. I also don't want to bug Ammit while she is on her vacation. SO if you don't mind, Peachtree, I will dig back through forum posts to see what I can find, and if it is more annoying and not messing up your game play, I suggest we wait til Ammit is back.

  • @ConfluenceFarms Thank you so much! I definitely wouldn't want to bug Ammit about it either. The main problem is that it just makes things difficult to read/see, but since everything else functions normally, I can wait :)

I just thought I'd ask in case there was an easy fix, but I've been working around it for a while now, so it's no big deal ;)

  • I use Chrome and Safari with no issues, so it's not a universal problem -- if you haven't tried Fallen's advice about clearing your cache, you definitely should.

In Chrome, you can choose "Clear browsing data" from the main Chrome dropdown menu at the top of the window.

Safari has a "Clear history" option in the same place (top of the window, under the Safari dropdown). If that doesn't work for you, there's another Safari option, which is to go to Safari/Preferences/Privacy and hit the "Manage Website Data" button. Then you can go down the list and choose to clear just the data from Hunt and Jump. (I do that when my horse pictures are getting cached as foals or in old tack, and it clears it up.)

  • Hm, that's interesting. Maybe it's an incompatible extension or something so I'll try that next? It just seems odd that everything on HJ1 is peachy and I only have issues here.

I have tried clearing all cookies and cache and it still happens (just tried again in case lol) no luck. Thank you for the advice though. I rarely use Safari so I actually didn't know you could manage website data like that :D

  • Resurrecting this old board because I seem to have found the root cause of the issue and wanted to share my solution:

  • Great detective work. The old http links are definitely something we are trying to get rid off.
