I just pasture bred several of my horses and got five foals, all the horses I bred were Sport Ponies, but some how I got two Warmbloods? Is this what is meant by better skill points? How is this possible?

Sport ponies and warmbloods are determined by height. Your two foals just ended up taller than their parents so they're warmbloods instead of ponies :)

so it's like in real life how some quarter horses are technically ponies by height?

No, that just means they are too tall to be ponies. The cut off is 14.2 hands high I think. That happens in real life too--horses can have pony height offspring and ponies can have horse height offspring. Obviously this is less likely with very tall or very short parents.

It has nothing to do with the quality or skill of the parents or the foal.

It just means that when they were being bred, they rolled a height taller than 14.2. :) The bonus from pastures only applies to mares' breeding ability, which affects hidden numbers in a foal that say how well they'll breed. :) That's how I understand it, anyway. :P
