I expect that there is no message because the program isn't written to provide for one. Considering how many breedings are taking place almost simultaneously, especially at the start of breeding season and on the 14th when pastures automatically run, such a feature would seriously bog down the server. When breeding by hand, the competition for server time is most likely some what smaller, and a dead foal message can be handled more easily.
