Anyone Else Having a Bummer Year?
-
Bred a pastureful of 90 mares and got about 12-15 that passed SBA, of course 60% of those were colts.
At least I’m filling up the show barns I guess -
A lot of these same crosses passed last year though, so I think it’s just not my season.
-
I ended up with a lot of colts, too. Lots of pretty show ponies this year.... :)
-
It's been a very heavy colt season for me, only got 2 mares from all my breeding.
-
Yep, lots of colts from my even lines. And my bootstrap line so far has thrown great colts and mostly fillies that didn’t meet my requirements. Sounds like a meh season all around.
-
So. Many. Colts. I think I'm only keeping 3 or 4 mares, although a good chunk of foals got chucked in the show barn.
-
I got some really good keepers and awesome future show horses. But they're stuck in pasture cause I decided it would be a good time to merge two accounts with this one, and sold back all my little barns to get bigger ones. Now my new 1000 barn is slap full of show Ponies, well all my new big barns are full and I'm about 300 overfilled on my primary while I sort through and sell off what I'm not going to be breeding. Lots are in auction today, lots got spelded, and I still think I'm over full to get those babies out plus the extra 120 or so mares sitting in my 60 acre pasture lol. I think I'm done breeding for this season, even though I only bred about 40 mares. Hoping I have enough time to get everything organized before the foals get sold back lol. Chaos reigns here this breeding season.

In the immortal words of The Weather Girls... it's raining men!
