What is a Leopard Apaloosa genetically speaking
  • As I continue to refine my breeding interests, I find myself being attracted to the Leopard Apaloosas. However, there doesn't seem to be much of a description of them, other than 'covered in spots'. Is there a genetic formula that decides if the horse is a leopard or not? I know PATN1 seems to be heavily involved.
  • As far as I know, it's het appy, hom PATN1.

Some of those have W20, but comparing them to the others, it doesn't do much.

  • A leopard Appaloosa, genetically, needs to have one copy of Llp, and two copies of PATN1. The photo of the horse might not always show a leopard, it could be a near leopard, where the lower legs are not fully spotted or the face is not fully spotted, but a couple re-rolls should fix that. A horse with two copies of Llp and two copies of PATN1 will most times show as a few spot Appaloosa, where you will only see a couple spots in a mostly white blanket.
  • Fallen is right.
And these are few spot appys:
