Year 68: A Perspective
  • It's that time of the year again, where we get to reflect on our achievements. Did you hit those goals you were aiming for? Satisfied with your where you are sitting currently? Let us tell you where we are at.

    Awards

We had to replace 22 show horses this year. Which we failed to do because sometimes life gets in the. We did end up having a rocking year for Breeder Awards!

    3 award winners! First,

This little lady won 9th in Most Point Earned by a Foundation Horse in the Appaloosa Club! I don't know much about her. I bought her at auction back in May. No clue why, which tends to happen when I wake up with an auction win. I threw her into my intact show herd. She's earned 198 points this year and has a total of 1656.

    Show Pony 0096

This lovely gelding earned 176 points this year and landed himself a solid 4th for Most Points Earned by a Lined Horse Era 5. His half brother won this spot last year. That sire makes some sucessful show babies.

    SecretDon of FurinkanHigh

Don is a Fuel to the Fire mare who won 3rd for Most Point Earned by a Foundation Horse in the Sabino 1 Club. She earned 153 points this year and 1362 total.

    Upcoming 2 Year Olds

We didn't get to breed as much this year as we were hoping because of life. But we did manage to get our main herd bred. It is again extremely difficult to whittle down who we are most excited about.

    Hidden Truffles

Truffles sire is our foundation Hidden Gates mushroom stud. His granddam was our Meteric Milestone mare. He has a lot of sentimentality in his lines and we are looking forward to replacing his sire when he comes of age.

All I can say is DANG that is one flashy colt.

    Fandom Spill

This little lady was a lucky straw bid from @MariaChapinFarm3 's T h e x f i l e s. She's super gorgeous but may do some GMT work on her to help that Wrong Warp out some.

    Most Promising 2/3 Year Olds

We've got 34 mares coming of age Year 69 but these two exemplify my favorite appaloosa.

    Orange Royalty

Their sire is himself a hidden appy and simply dripping with beauty. I can't wait to see them pass on their non-spots.

We've got 12 studs coming of age! I need help, really. It was hard to choose the one we're most excited about. But here he is.

    image
    Grand Dauphin

Dauphin may be short but he be HEAVY. Just how I like 'em. He is a result of my unending quest to use the straws in my freezer. His sire is @Haltanny 's King Louie, an incredibly good looking Brown Pearl Freak Friday. His dam is one of my most prized, and favorite mare The Queens Pearl, a King's Ransom mare. My first King's Ransom mare, her pasing was sad and I'm so happy I kept eggs from her.

    Out Performing Show Horses

We had 3 horses earn 246points this year! The most points earned by any of our horses this year.

This filly who is currently for sale is our highest PT foal for the year,

    Sad Goodbyes

We lost 22 horses including our two highest pointed show horses.

    Yet Another Suitor

Born September Third Two Thousand Seventeen. She was a third generation gold champagne appaloosa. She papered yellow and was therefore unsuitable for breeding. She did make a great show pony, with 10.6pt and ending with 2656 points and 9891 total earning she had a great run. Her sire Gold Intuition still has ties to our barn and others as well as her maternal grandsire Paint Dob.

    In Hot Water Now

From the same foal crop as Suitor with the same maternal grandsire and a PT of 10.60 she proved that her sire could produce consistent show ponies. While she papered Red she must not have passed our strict breeding requirements. She ended with 2162 points and total earnings of 7882.

These two broodmare produced some dazzling leopards. Second Gen, Red papered and from the same foal crop, born September Eighth Two Thousand Seventeen. Their sire was Leopards Intuition and before they passed they were able to continue his legacy.

And one of our saddest loss was this mare

    Pretty Eyes

A Conversation Hearts/Heterozygous Sabino 1 Create, we sadly never got a suitable replacement from her.

    Death Watch

    Our oldest horse:

And while we have 49 horses who may pass this coming season these 2 will be missed the most.
