SBA and inconsistency
  • Thought it was only if it read "very inconsistent" that BA/SBA would snip - does anyone know if SBA is more strict on consistency too? And, for that matter, if I was to theoretically ungeld and make consistent in the GMT lab, I'm 100% guaranteed to get him passing (since he's an A and his parents are B/red), right? Or (since it's late and I'm a bit tired) is there something else I've gone and overlooked in this equation here?(Genetically speaking, he's staying snipped, but I'm curious.)

  • Since his dad is a 10.2 pt and since I associate PTs in the 9s with foundations and he’s an even gen 3, I’m gonna say I think he got Very unlucky on the consistency front and also probably isn’t a very high A, might even test AGA sire, so he was borderline on breeding ability and abysmal on consistency and therefore got snipped because the aggregate wasn’t high enough.

I think SBA looks for a combination of factors rather than a simple hard pass point. That’s just my speculation though and should definitely be taken with a grain of salt the size of the Sahara.

(By a combination of factors, I mean I think if he was topping the charts at high A, it would balance out his abysmal consistency and he might have passed—it’s a sliding scale based on the sum of parts instead of simply being X% inconsistent or Y% better breeding ability. Again, pure speculation)

  • @Cheers Thank you! Your hypothesis makes sense, though I have to say I didn't think so at first - I'm used to my 2Gs out of C/yellows being AGA Experfs because that's what I require of them to stay intact. I require my 3Gs to test AGA one of my 2G As from experf parents. I was figuring that the same thing was happening here so I thought a difference of that size would be more than plenty.

Lo and behold, I realized I forgot to comp test Generosity - and he tested not only superior to an experf, but as good as my 2G A from experf parents! I've never had a 2G from C/yellow with such a high breeding ability!
