Not handling well
-
So....we just left Sophia at the hospital taking Hazel home with us and I'm devastated. It hurts so bad. I dont know how to properly handle this. :((
-
That's definitely a hard road to travel. I have lots of trite suggestions; not sure if they'll help, though.
Give Hazel lots of love, talk to her about her sister, visit with Sophia as often as you can. Take it one day at a time. You need to stay as upbeat as possible for Hazel's sake.
I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Yeah we are going to do all that, unfortunately it's hard to be there with her right now with appointments and not having a travel bassinet yet
-
In lieu of a travel bassinet, you can always look at getting a Rock’N’Play. My boys loved them, and it helps with any reflux problems too. Some of them vibrate and play music, just depends which model you get. I highly recommend that, they just fold up like a folding chair and cheaper than a travel bassinet.
I’ve never had to leave a child in the NICU, but I had to leave my youngest for a couple hours here and there when he was 2 and in the hospital. It never gets easier. Just give Sophia all the love you can while you are with her, and maybe look at a teddy bear or something that plays a recorded message, so she can still hear your voice. Maybe sleep with it or let Hazel snuggle with next to her so it smells like you. It’s shown that it helps immensely having things like that. Sending you hugs and love, this will be over soon enough and will be a distant memory. -
My brother had to stay in the NICU 15 years ago. He was premature, not as much as your girls but he still had a very rough go of it. My parents truly thought they would lose him. It was a very difficult time but now he is a strong young man and perfectly normal, with nothing to show for the rough start. Praying for the same for Sophia.ID: 16853

I have been in your shoes. I know the kinds of feelings that could be running through your head. I had twins who both ended up at different hospitals due to their issues. I ended up having to stay at the hospital due to complications with the epidural that I didn't want in the first place. It was tough. Even when I got out of the hospital, almost a week after they were born, I still couldn't be out of bed for any length of time. Just know the nurses, doctors, and volunteers at the NICU will be there for her and you. Don't hesitate to talk to them or your doctors about what is going on and your feelings. They are there to help your entire family get through this rough time. My daughter was in the NICU for 3 months before she was finally able to come home. You will be in my prayers.
