The mushroom test is finally out.
-
I don't know if anyone remember way back when, when there was a discussion on mushroom in Shetland ponies. Well UC Davis are finally overing the test to the public.

They've even made their own Shetland pony colour panel which is tests for; the red factor, agouti, dun (including nd1), grey, cream, silver, mushroom, and tobiano.
I'm going to get one of my mares tested for Mushroom next month, she is probably going to come back negative but she's such an odd chestnut that it'll be interesting.

That's brilliant! I wonder how many carriers are out there?

Nice. My pony is half Shetland pony and half Paint.

I don't know if American Shetlands have mushroom, if the mutation is old enough it is possible but I've never heard of American Shetlands having mushroom, it'll be interesting to see if some get tested.21170
