    How do you guys price your stallions at stud or for straws? I havent been able to breed many of my stock the last few months and was thinking of opening most of them to the public.

    This is a format I saw another member post to price their straws. I use it as a rough guide with a few tweaks. Personally I never charge over 5k for straws.


    1000 hbs - Foundation
    1500 hbs - Lined
    + 500 hbs - Each rare gene (S+, KitM, KP, W8, W10)
    + 1000 hbs - Each GMT

    Sorry for hijacking a bit, but I’m also new to straws and have a new project stallion I’m so amazingly happy with!

    I see some being sold with garauntees, how exactly does that work? If someone buys 5 straws and 3 foals don’t pass SBA, then I would send them 3 more free straws? Rinse and repeat until they have 5 foals that pass SBA?

    Yes - that's the usual way for guarantees. I think it's ok to ask that they use similar quality mares.

    I usually price 1k for "regular" base price of just about any horse, 2k for a rank special or something that's sorta special, then 5k for anything fancy I consider worth actively making a forum post about, like my 2G hom snf/kp/dp/prl. For really special foundations I sometimes ask 10k, but only for foundations. Any closed genes I usually ask 5k, even for foundations, as the market is smaller.
