My show pony barns are bursting at the seams and I’m having difficulties containing all of them. Should I cull some and if I do, what should I cull? I’ve been keeping the vast majority of my Foals from the past few breeding seasons and was planning on keeping most of this season but, like I said, I have no room for them. Most of this seasons will be going to auction. I’m only at about a 15k show bonus.

ETA: I’m at about a 1:2 ratio but I haven’t gonna through all of my breeding stock yet. It’ll eventually be only about 100 Mares or less when I’m done.

Cull your breeders first, honestly. I won’t ever cull my show ponies, unless they have leveled off and are not earning points and have under 400ish for horses snipped at birth, 250ish for mares or studs that were snipped later. Your show ponies pay for your breeding, they pay for new barns. I would suggest going through your breeding horses and cutting down on some, and picking up some pointed creates in auction.

I spayed the majority of my Mares and put a few up for sale. I’ll have to stalk the auction today and see what I can pick up.

Haha, yes, if you have ones over the age of 14 or so with less than 200 points, auction them and replace them with pointed creates from the auction! You can pick up a 200 point 4 yo with a decent PT for barely above create price :3

I used to do 500 pts by 10yrs. Now I just require 800 pts at 17yrs.
