Gene not showing up (Fixed)
-
I bought hom kp for this boy yesterday and when I go to the lab it shows that he has kp on both strands so shouldn't it show up?
I added hom kp to him so it should show

You have to have two Kit genes on a horse for KP to show. It's there. It's jut invisible.
-
If you modify your horse, I would suggest using something other than W20. See if maybe kit M or Sabino 2 comes up on sale, or Tabino or roan is a good one in the GMT lab. I personally love Sabino 1.

These are all my KP foundations to give you an idea of what the different kit genes do. Hope it helps. (There are a couple of Freaky Fridays in there.) -
It just has to be two kit genes. Like my horses above.
Ex: Kit r Kit to (like my hidden Gates boy) OR Kit sab1 Kit sab1 (think Autumn's Arrival) etc. As long as there are two Kit genes, the KP will show on your horse. (See my Yule log above? That tiny white speck on her neck is her KP spot.)
Click on each of those horses above to see what Kit genes they have.
Kit can also be W20, but I find that can wash a horse out if the white factor is too high, so I try and stick to the other ones so I can see the KP cloud.
Does that make sense? -

These are all the kit genes that can be added to a horse to make KP show. :)
You must have two of these on a horse for it to show, so for it to show on your horse you would have to add two genes from the above list to your horse. (You're horse does have KP already, it just isn't showing. He will still pass it onto horses, and if the mare you breed him to is also HOM KP they the foal will be as well.) -
If it goes on sale, you should totally add white m. ;)
(I personally think he would look STUNNING with it!) -
Oops! And it's a pretty one too!

@MariaChapinFarm3 oh I love kitm so much i hope it shows up soon!ID# 45123
