Roan vs. Appaloosa?

Hey! So I thought that it would be super pretty to have snowflake on one of my blue roan studs, so I splurged on the gene (found out he was created het snowflake - nice surprise!) and on GMTs to make sure he had LLp so it would show, but he looks as blue roan as ever. :( Is it impossible for roan and appaloosa to present on the same horse?
