So I know jack about hidden genes. They aren't anything I've studied since I don't breed for them. Which probably means I've got a few hidden gems in my herd that I'm not even aware of... but I digress. Does this girl carry DP? She's darker than a lot of chestnuts I've had pass through, but she also carries sooty.. so.. Help a clueless sister out!

*If anyone thinks shes special and wants to grab her before she goes to auction, let me know.*

I would say no, but it could be my eyes. Here is a hom sooty Mare for comparison.

If your girl carried a copy of DP, she would look very close to my mares color, and to me she looks noticeably lighter.

I agree that there is a difference in color. My filly has less of a liver/chocolate tone and more of a cherry red color. Thanks for the input :)
