Satin or watercolor?
-
So I want to add either one copy of satin or one copy of water color onto this guy, what do you guys think I should do.
Which would be more popular because I plan on selling straws or if needed put him up for stud in my chat for someone.

You should add whichever genes You like rather than what others think. Everyone has their own preference. I’m not a fan of watercolour but I have a small line of satins.
But if you are wanting to share remember that watercolour is a closed gene so the pool of shareable people is smaller since it’s limited to others who have bought the gene. Satin is one of the more expensive genes to add in the gmt lab so not as readily available at the foundation level but it is shareable with anyone that wants a foalBreeding even generation Grullos with IceThanked by 1Gracie3B -
I would vote for satin. Lots of people have watercolor foundations but there are not many satin foundations. I think you would have a bigger market for straws with satin. He will be beautiful no matter which you add though!Thanked by 1Gracie3B

One thing to consider is that watercolor only needs one copy to show, but satin needs 2. Unless you have satin mares to breed to you won't see any satin foals until at least the 3rd gen.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses. Liver chestnut, DP mushroom, and rose gray riding horses. Dun cobs with all the patterns. Watercolor, Wrong Warp and ice on mixed body types.

I would say satin as not everyone has the watercolor license.
But it is gorgeous with watercolor :)Thanked by 1Gracie3B -
Satin doesn't show that great on pearls. Might want to check that first.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

It’s definitely a lot more subtle. I personally like it but it’s up to you :xID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!Thanked by 1Gracie3B -

I think watercolor is WAYY prettier on pearl horses than satin is. Don't get me wrong, I adore satin! But on pearls or champagnes I would definately go with watercolor.ID 108Thanked by 1Gracie3B

Better hurry and make a decision, the genes change tomorrow! But I think watercolor would look better on him personallyThanked by 1Gracie3B

Watercolour can be quite muted on pearl too sometimes but I'd go both haha!!
One copy of satin for nice surprises down the track, and one copy of watercolour for the now bling!Thanked by 1BlackWyld -
I personally prefer satin but another thing to consider is that satin is an open gene and watercolour is closed so if you are loving watercolour and want to start playing with breeding it you are going to want a license.

Always looking to buy B/Red foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me. -
@Maribo
Sorry for not being clear. I do know that. I just meant, if Gracie is only buying one gene then they may want watercolour for this guy so that gives them the license. If they choose satin they are out of luck with being able to breed WC until it becomes available again but if they choose WC they can still play with breeding satin. :)
I guess it makes little difference now. LOLID# 47364
