Is This Silver Bay DP?

    I don't breed for bays. I just wanted to see what the "Dark Silver Bay" HH create looked like and this girl was the first one I made.
    She is Hom sty but still seems very dark to me.

    This is one I bred this season - she is probably het DP since she's only het sty. Her dam is liver red dun roan. Sire does not carry DP from what I can see. So for comparison, my foal carries 1 of each "darkening" gene. Also note that she has roan, which is causing some lightening. Yours might be het DP - my guess is the only way to know for sure is to breed to a FF or other proven Hom DP stud. I have a HomDP second gen stud if you want a straw to test breed her :)

    A normal Hom sooty vs your girl
    Your girl looks darker which is why I said dp :)
    But i may be wrong, usually i see them with dapples :P
