Foundation prices

How does everyone pick prices on their stock?
I see a lot of people put foundations up for create price. But also see people put up for 10k or more and they sell. What makes an horse sell for more? I know color is a big thing. But some are just plain looking and inconsistent. Not tested for much but still sell high? -
A lot of people don't test for Consistency so some people can really care less about that test. Color I know has a lot to do with it and so does the HH the horse comes from. Any special HH will sell for more. Like the brindle hh's. I know there are a few and for those horses your currently looking at 100,000 - 200,000 each. Liver or DP is another color that is hard to find anyone parting with and has been very popular. It all really depends on what colors people are looking for. People can be very fickle, so what's popular one week may not be what's popular the next week. I normally don't take into consideration color when deciding on price. Only because I breed my colors for myself and if it's what I'm looking for I keep it. Everything else I set the price based on what testing I have put into them and what generation it is. Foundations I start with 2500 and then whatever testing I have done on them. If they don't sell within a week then I decide to either alter them and throw them in my show line or sell them at public auction. I do the same thing with my 2nd gen. Base price would be 500 plus any testing if it's over 3000 then I start with that price for a week then drop it to 3000 for the next week and then auction or alter. One color I know is growing in popularity is the wild bay A+ gene. Its pretty plain looking but can be added with some other genes to create some really cool looking horses.

Ok. Cool. Thanks:-)

I should add that the Rank Specials have known testing values, so you don't really have to buy tested ones to know you're getting a perfect foundation. I'm willing to splash out for them where I wouldn't spend anywhere near that much for an untested normal create, even from a Rank 5 HH with colors I love.
Consistency really doesn't seem to affect the game at all, so I don't test for or pay attention to it. Papering (particularly for mares at the foundation level) is something I pay attention to and I will pay more for a Red papered mare than an unpapered one. After that and of course recouping whatever you've spent on testing, it really is all about color...some are valuable and some aren't. There seems to be a serious prejudice against roan across the board, while things like Appaloosa are coveted and usually sell easily. For me black is super valuable since I can use it in almost every line, while plain bays are not as helpful and are more plentiful. Wild bay, brown, DP/liver and patterns that aren't roan are always more valuable than plain chestnut or bay. Dun, champagne and cream are variably valuable, silver black sells better than silver bay...it is all a bit of a toss up! -
I have noticed that I can't seem to sell champagnes anymore... not sure why.

I love champagnes. I have a few classic champagnes. My biggest problem is the white factor. On most of my colors I don't want white socks or blazes drawing attention away from what I think is a beautiful solid color. I'm more apt to spend more money on a horse that's the color I want with little to no white factor then a horse that has low to medium. It's all a personal preference. Maybe I'm just weird. On the other hand I love my apps especially my leo's

Abbey I will take your golds and classics! I'm not as big on the ambers and sables don't yet seem to be At brown...just sooty bay.
