She's 11yo, it's likely just normal appaloosa varnish roaning out the color. It's not the same gene as roan but has a similar effect, adding more and more white hairs progressively as they age.

No, not all horses with appaloosa have varnish, just some. I find with the varnish horses it usually starts to really noticeably show by age 4-6, but if I’m paying attention, I might see it earlier. Appys are automatically re-rolled by the game (whether you want them to be or not!) at the start of each month.
Varnish is not shown to us mere mortals in the visible gene code, so there’s no easy way to tell when they are foals.

They will all varnish to some extent actually.
