PAPERING STALLIONS- CAN U PAPER ONES YOU BUY?
  • our Stallions
Each test costs $1,500 hb's. Colts that receive a Showable Only rating will be gelded on site. It is firmly against the rules to use your upgrade to paper other peoples horses. Your upgrade will be removed and you will not be refunded if you abuse this system. Do not for any reason paper stallions for other members
This makes me think I cant paper stallions I buy. There are a couple of my breeding stallions I would like to papaer but i dont want kicked out of the game. Do they work the same way for geldings and mares?
    Whats the advantage of papering?
  • They just don't want you using an upgraded account to paper horses for someone who does not have an upgraded account. That's cheating. If you bought them and are using them for breeding your good.
  • You can paper horses that you buy and intend to keep. This rule is to prevent someone like me for example who is not upgraded to sell a horse to you, have you paper it for me, then sell it back to me. I would be getting the papering benefit without being upgraded, which is the cheating the rule is intend d for.

Papering stallions and mares gives you an concrete idea of the quality of a breeder. Better breeders give you better babies.

I have to make an educated guess so to speak based on the limited testing available to me on the quality of my breeders, but with papering you can know for sure.

  • And Hidden, if you buy a stud and paper him and don't like what he papers out as, you can still sell him. It's if you are clearly cheating that you have issues. But don't think you're stuck with a subpar stallion!

So, all foundation stallions paper at C or Showable Only. You can compare foundations to each other to find out who is better, but pretty much you know that Perfect Foundations and Rank Specials are the best foundations around, as well as top notch producers as far as breeding ability. I haunted the Foundation Rescue for stallions, especially for the ones I had LE genes put on.

When you start breeding your lined foals or buying lined colts, you will need to decide for yourself what you want your different generations to paper at. It seems a bunch of us require our gen 2 colts to paper B but that is really up to you. A colt that papers a letter grade above his sire is obviously superior to his sire--will produce better foals, which is the whole point. If they paper the same letter, then you have to compare the colt to the sire or to a benchmark stallion you have in the colt's generation to decide whether to keep the colt intact or not. Comparison testing gets expensive fast!

Remember that stallions are papered strictly on their own merit, while mares are papered based on the quality of their foals. As a result, the quality of the stallion you are breeding the mares to greatly influences their paper level.

Stallions paper as: Showable Only, C, B, A, Star.

Mares paper as: Fail, Yellow, Red, Blue, Gold.

In general foundation mares paper yellow but most of mine are papering out red because most of my foundation stallions are perfect foundations.
