Varnish

Does varnish show up in the gene test results now? I don't see anything different between the test results of my varnish and non-varnish appys. Maybe I am just blind though.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

I believe Ammit has said that all appaloosas will now varnish, some more slowly than others, and that the more pigment in the hairs, the less they will varnish. That's why it's no longer part of the gene test.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

So a cream based appy will varnish really fast and a Sooty+ appy would barely varnish at all?

I think it would depend on what the base color is. Black would varnish more slowly than palomino. Chestnut more slowly than red dun. But I'm not sure exactly how it will work out in practice. Ammit could tell you more about it.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
