    Hello!
    I have a stud that I'm using for the first time this "year". He tested the best out of all my studs (via comparison testing). I bred the majority of my mares (30+) to him and only came up with two semi-worthwhile foals, and two more that passed BA but have poor performance tests. All the rest failed BA....some of the mares even had 30+ days in pasture. As a test I created a few new ones tonight and their foals failed as well.

    Is it possible to have a stud that "fails" as a stud or did I just get a bad string of luck this "year"?

    Performance tests aren't a basis how on good of a breeder a horse is.

    And are you sure that the stud failed, or was it perhaps the mares? BA compares the foal to both of it's parents, so if the mares are of a significantly lower quality than the stud, that could result in more snipped foals. If you want to get more foals, breeding even abilities (eg C to Yellow, B to reds, etc) would be best.
