best way to use my kit colt

    I was given this dream of a colt as a gift and I'm not sure how to best utilize him? I don't have any kit promoting mares. don't you need 2 copies for it to show up and to enter the club? since I don't have any kit mares should I just breed him to my "normal" girls about save up for some kit girls?

    how much do kit promoters go for? How much would you pay for a straw from this colt?
    I'm thinking about giving away some straws when he turns 3 :D

    He’s gorgeous! I’ve bred my KP boy to Het KP mares and gotten KP foals, if that helps you out any! I’m sure some people will let you breed to their het kp mares for decent prices!

    thank you! I don't even have het KP in my horses. I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to get a KP colt. I'll see if I can find some mares to brood to as well as some het KPs to buy. maybe a few him if I'm lucky

    If you want to breed him to mares you currently have, I would pick mares with 2 Kit pattern genes so that at least all of his foals will be het KP with 2 Kit genes. If you then breed those foals to each other, some of the offspring will be KP (remembering that KP requires 2 Kit patterns AND Hom KP to express/register in the club). I would be happy to make some Het KP mares Available for you to breed to once he comes of age.

    thats a great idea! I'll go through my mares. most of my 3rd gens are solid colors but I have a few that have 2 kit genes.
    I'd love to breed to a few of you KP mares
