Don't you have to have 2 snowflake parents and lp to get a snowflake baby? I got 3 snowflake babies today and they are out of a snowflake stud I got as a Christmas gift from my SS cheers

I thought both parents had to be carriers and the foal had to be hom lp and snowflake for it to be expressed and to be able to register them? I could be mistaken though since I'm just beginning to try to include snowflake in my lines

That means the mares the goals are out of are her Snowflake, meaning they’ll give their goals one copy of the Snowflake gene 50% of the time.

To clarify, Snowflake is a recessive gene that requires two copies of Snowflake with at least one copy of LP to be visible. This is different from Kit Promoter (KP) where two copies of KP and two KIT allele mutations need to be present in order to be expressed.

Since it is a hidden gene that can generate randomly in foundation creations, you never know if a foundation horse has it unless they are expressing it or you GMT them to have it.

So a horse can be homozygous (two copies of Snowflake) and not display it because they do not have LP.

The stallion is homo snowflake which makes your mares het snowflake! Yay! There must be at least one copy of Llp present for Homo snowflake to be expressed. Het snowflake can hide any where. Homo snowflake can hide also if the Llp is not present. :)
