Favorite Studs
-
We have a post every season for favorite foals, but I thought in preparation for breeding season we could post about our favorite studs we will have available for public breeding (straws or live cover). Share a pic, snippet about your stud and link if you want, or feel free to get creative. Try to limit it to only one or two studs per generation to keep with the spotlighting theme.
I'm excited to see everyone's favorites, and maybe discover a few gems to use this upcoming season!
Here's mine:
Foundation Stud: SS Wicked: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=190755
SS Wicked is special to me because 1) I am totally in love with silvers, and 2) he comparison tested the same as my rank special conversation hearts stud, so I was really excited to get that out of a Silver Black herd helper create. He has been an integral part of filling my barn with lovely silver babies. I offer him for public breeding every year at only 200 HBs for those interested.
Second Gen Stud: SS Will O Wisp: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=247393
This stud's name was inspired by his parents and the Disney movie Brave. I was trying to think of spooky things that are also blue and thought of those little blue Will O Wisps that Princess Merida chases in Brave. Will O Wisps are often believed to be spirits, which fits in with his father's name. I love his minimal White 2 markings on the silver grullo, and he also carries splash. The icing on the cake is that he comparison tested superior to his sire, so I was ecstatic to add him to my second generation lineup. His stud fee is 400 HBs each year.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

Here's my two favorites from PaintsStables.
Sizzlin Toad has always been my favorite foundation stallion.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=151257
Toad has always been on The White 1 Breeder's Club, Top Producing Stallion List, since the first year I was able to breed him. But it wasn't until around Year 19 that there were enough stallions being bred in The White 1 Breeder's Club for the list. So he doesn't have the awards on his records page. But I kept track of them in the notes on his horse page. He is showing at a profit, and has modest points to his credit.
His breeding fee is always $250.
Here's my one of several favorite lined (2G) stallions.
Mystery Doodles was my first Brown stallion, he will always be my favorite lined stallion.
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=149122
Doodles was my first Brown stallion. He did paper 'B', and he doesn't have a profit or a lot of points, but if you are looking to get a brown or dark buckskin foal, give him a try. I have bred him many times in my brown dark buckskin lines. He has produced many more brown and dark buckskin offspring for me. Including one colt that I have just started breeding two seasons ago, and that colt produces homozygous brown foals. I am eagerly awaiting for those homozygous brown foals to get to breeding age.
His breeding fee is usually $500. -
Love the names of these special guys. :-) Nice looking bunch!
