Waiting for pasture foals

    Hi everyone!

    I know you get better quality foals if you wait for them to autobreed. But is the difference worth the wait?

    For me it is always worth the wait. I have RS studs matched with PF and some RS mares. I get a better chance of my foals passing my rigorous testing if my mares have a full pasture bonus. There are some seasons that I have gotten only 5 alters from SBA out of 30 foals.

    You do not have to wait for them to autobreed. Starting the 5th of each month, you can manually breed your pastures. Maximizing your pasture bonus though is key, as that is what has the greatest impact on the quality of foals. 30 days is the max pasture bonus.

    Ok, I see what you mean. No it doesn't matter if you let them auto breed in pasture or manual breed in pasture. All that matters is that the mares get as much as a bonus as they can. I leave all my mares in pasture so that they always have a full bonus and then as I get the money I manual breed that pasture.
