As an alter, a horses worth is determined by their number of points their age and, in some cases, their pt score. Most alters are worth creation price or a little above. Those with very high pts, I think 11+, could probably go up to 3k as a foal, maybe a bit more. Because your gelding only has 17.5 points, he falls into the creation price or a little above category.

Because everyone does a ton of breeding and ends up with plenty of alters, and your boys pt is average, it'd probably just be best to auction him. You'll get 2500hbs guaranteed, and if someone bids on him you'll get more.
