Dapples are not a genetically heritable trait. If you reroll the portrait of any horse enough times, you can end up with dapples.ID# 25784

Dapples do have a genetic base and do not show up on just any horse.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

From my time playing what I have found is dapples seem to be connected to the sty and S+ genes along with some of the silver genes. The sty and S+ genes even have their own unique type of dapples. Grant it, if a horse has any of these genes and does not have dapples you can reroll their picture and sometimes they will pop up.

I've heard that dapples tie in with DP. They're common in DP horses from what I've seen. Also, sooty+ shows unique dapples always :)

Now I understand it. Bascially a shorter way of saying a horse has the sooty gene.

It's an extra gene to darken the horse even more. It's how you get colors like Liver Chestnut and Chocolate Palomino.
