Ways to build a successful show herd?
-
Title says all. Any advice is welcome. I've adopted 2 very successful horses from AtA already.

Keep as many of your foals as you can, and buy high pt foals at auction. Sometimes high pointed horses come up for a good price on the sales board so look there too.

Alrighty!

Also if you want to boost your show bonus quicker haunt the auctions for horses with higher show points! Just watch out for age as alot of players put their older show horses in the auction incase they die off at roll over.
So loom for horses with over at least 200pts and are no older than 12yrs. Also look at their showing level. Higher the showing level the higher the points they earn each showing week.
Also when looking in the auctions look at intact breeding stock that have show points. Even if they dont have genes you want you can snip them and they will do even better in shows!
This beats waiting for your babies to earn you significant show points. Keep your Altered babies too! Maybe not all but the ones that are maybe are pretty and do well in shows!

I'll definitely scour the auctions, I'm just a tad short on hb's. I sold 2 horses but I've spent the hb's already lol

It's very easy to spend hajibucks in this game. :D All the more reason to boost your show herd.
You've had plenty of good advice already, so I will just add one additional note. Have patience. This is a game where things don't usually happen quickly. It takes time, both game time and real time, to reach any goal you may set, so, in addition to being an excellent tutorial in horse color genetics, this game is also great training for developing patience.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
