So I have to admit to being somewhat addicted to watching April the giraffe. Everytime I go by the computer I have to check in on her. She should give birth today. Anyone else watching April?

A friend at work just had a little boy, he tweeted his updates under #beatthegiraffe! And they did! Of course, about a gazillion other creatures have beaten that stupid giraffe by now! :p

Still no baby, but I too just watched a long and hard contraction :)ID 108

So I went to check her out after I saw Ammits comment and nothing much was happening but I just saw what looked like a long contraction her one hind leg was even held up. Shes pacing a bit and holding her tail up. Definitely uncomfortable. Maybe this is actually it lol

Yep. She's in labor, and having strong contractions. Doesn't mean it will be in the next 30 min, doesn't mean it won't be either.

I dont know, I read that giraffes have quick labors just like lots of prey animals for obvious reasons. The first stage of labor could obviously be a decent amount of time but thats not contractions we can see. At least thats not the case in horses. I would assume it would be the same for most animals.
Who knows though. This is why i dont watch this darn giraffe and I got sucked back into it cause I thought I was gonna catch her calf lol
