  • I'm a little confused on how some of my horses are performing. I have a few horses with bad pt scores that win many competitions while some horses with good pt haven't won anything. Am I doing something wrong?

  • I wouldn't worry about the results in 1L at all. Because there's only two horses, it's essentially a coin flip and you shouldn't use its results to cull your show herd. Foals can only be in 1L so I tend to wait until they're 3, sometimes 4 before I have a good look at their results and points. This gives them several months of training behind them to help.

  • That makes more sense now. Thanks so much. :D
  • Here are some examples to show what I mean.

Here's a 2 year old girl that I bred last season. You can see that she didn't win a single comp in 1L, but since she's moved up the levels she's only been placing 1st and 2nd. Again, too early for her to tell a trend since she's so young, but shows the improvement once they get out of 1L.

And this one scored the exact same score as a foal in 1L every. single. time. Sometimes she won, sometimes she lost. It really is a flip of a coin and horses don't show much improvement until trained.
