Classic Tobiano Pattern...
-
I just bred this ht KP mare, and when I colour tested her, she came up with ht Kit To.. Except she doesn't display the trademark tobiano white pattern!
I think it's pretty cool, just never seen it happen before. Is it common for tobiano's to be solid coloured?

I'm not sure how common it is, but I seem to get a lot of minimally marked (or no marks!) tobis. It's a little disappointing because the classic tobi pattern has a special place in my heart.Thanked by 1AztecArabians

I've never seen it before! I just assumed a choc pally dun/some sort of cream based dun..was no expected a tobiano!
This guy is my favourite out of all my tobi babies, the w8 is lovely with it!

My gelding who was my herd sire is homo tobi and he produced a few solid tobis. It is what is known as slipped tobianos. They are tobi without the classic markings. Sky produced 4 out of 17 foals that were solid. It does happen.Thanked by 1AztecArabians

In the game, we have something called White Factor in the genetic information. It is not so much a gene as a combination of genetic factors that influences how much white shows up on a horse. It can range from None through Minimal, Light, Medium, and Large to Extensive.
Your first foal in this post has White Factor None, so he has very little white showing on his body. If you look at his hind leg, you will see a low white sock that has a sort of diagonal top line that slants roughly from the back toward the front. This is a typical game indication of a low White Factor foal that carries Tobiano.
The second foal (who is really striking) has White Factor Light. He shows some relatively restrained typical Tobiano patterniing, and some light white speckling from his White 8 mutation. If he had a larger White Factor, he would have a lot less color in his coat.
Here is a link from the Genetics Guide to how Ammit explains White Factor in the game. http://www.huntandjump.com/geneticsguide/?page_id=122 Because this is not something that is completely understood by scientists, she classes White Factor among the Fantasy Genes. This doesn't mean that it's something completely unnatural and made up like Nexus and Axiom, only that there isn't a verified scientific explanation or even a likely theory to explain why it works this way.De gustibus non disputandum. Here are a few examples of tobianos in my stable that have smaller amounts of white factor. Remember that there is variability in the color and pattern expressions in the game, so not all horses with the same amount of white factor will look this these, but these all show the tell-tale tobiano forward slanting hind sock.
White Factor: Minimal
Speedy Current
White Factor: Light
Hidden Synergy
White Factor: None
Salsa Summit
By the time we get to Medium White Factor, the horse is likely to have completely white hind legs, and enough tobiano patterning to make it obvious.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

It's called minimal tobiano, slipped tobiano is something different. :)Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
