Points and show levels don't take part in the breeding phase of the horse (PT however is something people look for). I honestly wouldn't pay 7,500hbs for a stud cover, even if it was a RS. Unless your horses have interesting genes or are a RS themselves, I wouldn't place them above 1,000hbs just due to how many many other studs are out there.

Wait, really? o.0 That's odd. Just bred my mare to an outside stud for 22 and he was chocka full of colour, including appy! Maybe the stud had something like satin in it, which costs 40 gmt tokens.

One reason some studs are up for a lot of money (like 10k+) might be that the owner wants to discourage other players from breeding to them. Because non-premium members don't have access to private breeding, they need to put their own studs up for public breeding in order to be able to breed to them (unless they're using pastures). They might not want other people using their studs, so they put the studs up for as much money they can afford to minimize the risk.
