KIT Explanation
-
I'm new and I've been trying my darnedest to figure out this KIT thing (to no avail). Is there a guide somewhere that explains each KIT possibility? KITr/to/w20/etc.
I've seen the charts and haven't been able to figure them out. I'm mostly concerned with crossing:
Stallion Derivative http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=696943
Stallion Tophat http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=696313
On
Mare Indigi http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=696284
Mare Grey Bird http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=696883
Could these result in lethal crosses?
Thank you very much! -
Have you looked at the Genetics Guide in the left menu bar? There are some good descriptions of genes in there. Also, here is a link to my Links List. The 10th or 11th link down shows the post Ammit made about lethal white, and the lethality chart. http://hj2.huntandjump.com/forum/discussion/15736/links-list#Item_3

The way to use the chart is to find the stallion's kit genes on the top and the mare's genes on the left side and look at the box where the stallion's column meets the mare's row. The horses you listed have a combination of roan, tobiano and W20, all of which are in the green safe zone with eachother. The only genes you would have to worry about with those horses are W1 and for the one with W20, W2. Even those genes are a low risk cross that is only lethal with extensive WF (looking at the more detailed chart with all the numbers), so your medium to none WF horses should be safe to cross with almost anything.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses. Liver chestnut, DP mushroom, and rose gray riding horses. Dun cobs with all the patterns. Watercolor, Wrong Warp and ice on mixed body types.

Yes I found both of those resources. Is there a simplified guide that states for example, AA is this, Aa is this, aa is this, etc.?
For the chart, is each entry the "exponent" on Kit in the horse's gene? Ex. Kit^w20 correlates to w20 in the chart? I believe that's it, but I want to double check. -
Oh, thanks Ondowa! You replied while I was typing my response. :)
Thank you very much to the both of you! -
