Foal have DP?

I think he does. He is really dark. I love his dapples and his chrome. -
He's Silver Black and homozygous EE with it, so even if he does carry DP, it won't affect his color. DP stands for Dense Pheomelanin, which is a build up of red pigment in the hairs. Since all his pigmented hairs are black, it can't work on him. It's not impossible that he might be carrying it, but he'd have to pass it on to an otherwise chestnut or bay offspring to tell, and since he is homozygous EE aa SS (no agouti, no sooty), it would be hard to tell even then.De gustibus non disputandum. Yeah, that is how silver black horses look like. Many of them have dapples.understand the significance of signatures

Well that is ok. He is probably going to be gelded since he papered C. He is pretty so not sure if I want to geld him.

He is a 3rd gen with a B papered sire. You should geld him if you want to improve the quality of your horses with each generation. Yes he is pretty, but when it comes to breeding stock, quality is more important, and there is always next season. That cross should always produce silver black or silver grullo foals so you have a good chance of getting a similar looking foal if you breed them again.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses.
