Breeding Help
-
Is it possible to breed back to a generation? I have a mare that I want to breed back to her sire for his genes. Would that have adverse side effects on lineage or game play? Please no judgement. I know this technique is widely practiced in the real equine world.

it is possible. I can't really judge, since until I expand the gene pool of my stallions old enough for breeding, my foals are all going to be half siblings to everyone else, which is going to make it interesting when they are old enough to breed. The one thing about it is a lot of people are breeding for quality (horses who are more likely to produce foals with higher show potential) Ideally you should be seeing increase in quality down the generations, so breeding back to sire would prevent that, but without an upgrade seeing if generation stock is better or worse is very difficult, so if the sire is a stallion that makes you happy,I'd say going ahead and using him is just as good or better than using an unprepared sire. (this is coming from one of the breeders who is not as concerned with uneven breeding as other people. There are several who won't buy an uneven horse for breeding. Also coming from someone who just bought a really flashy high generation colt that papered showable only and was automatically gelded by the game)
All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps. -
Line and inbreeding have no known impact on the foal on HJ games. People do it all the time.

Thanks Confluence. Right now I'm just breeding for color. The daughter is a great show horse as is her sire. So I'll give it a shot when she is old enough

I am very forgetful so if I owe you anything but am taking to long please send me a PM. I don't get on to play the game as often as I once did but I am usually most active during the 2nd and 3rd week of each month -
She also carries the silver sable from her sire
