Question about Showable only Studs.
-
I was wondering why, if after I have tested a stud on the showing aptitude, and then with Charlie, and he passes both, then I go and paper him, and he gets showable only, and gelded automatically, why does he pass Charlie's scrutiny? Shouldn't he get gelded then?

I am not going to pretend I know the answer, but I will give an educated guess. Maybe it's just a fraction of a marginal difference? Kind of like when a B stallion comparison test about AGA an A only with a much tighter margin.Purple Sage Estates - 129

Not at all. All the tests are different and test different things. They are not straight quality checks. You are testing how much better of a shower they are then a breeder, then how they compare to their sire, AND THEN papering is the hard number. A horse can be the same ability shower and breeder and be not much worse then their sire (if the sire is pretty poor) and still be a terrible breeder. None of those other tests look at if the horse is a good breeder or not.

Aaaaah. I get it now. It's like dad saying something is OK, but mom has the final say (or vice versa). As far as foundations are concerned anyway.Purple Sage Estates - 129

Thanks Ammit. I was just curious as too why they didn't get the clip from Charlie, then paper show only. It confused me.

I must admit I've never had a stally pass both sat and ga but then get papered showable only!

Quite a few pass ga or sma but not sat
